Ana María Martínez returns to LA Opera for two works in 2015-16 season

As announced by the company earlier today, Ana María Martínez will return to Los Angeles Opera for two productions in the 2015-16 season. The Grammy-winning soprano first opens the season as Nedda in Franco Zeffirelli’s production of Pagliacci, seen as part of a double-bill that also includes Gianni Schicchi, directed by Woody Allen and starring Plácido Domingo in the title role. In Pagliacci, Ana María is paired with Marco Berti as Canio, George Gagnidze as Tonio, Liam Bonner as Silvio, and Brenton Ryan as Beppe. Maestro Domingo conducts the performances of Pagliacci, which take place September 12–October 3.

In 2016, Ana María once can once again be heard at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion when she reprises her signature role of Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly, in a production directed by Lee Blakeley and conducted by LA Opera Music Director James Conlon. Stefano Secco sings Pinkerton, Kihun Yoon is Sharpless, and Milena Kitic is Suzuki.

Tickets for the LA Opera’s 2015-16 season go on sale to the general public on June 28.
