Ana María Martínez steps in as Butterfly at the Royal Opera House
On April 6 and 11, Ana María Martínez gives two performances as Cio-Cio San at the Royal Opera House in London. The Grammy-winning soprano, who recently sang this signature role to acclaim at Houston Grand Opera, stars in Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser’s production under the baton of Nicola Luisotti. She stars opposite Brian Jagde as Pinkerton and Gabriele Viviani as Sharpless, with Carlo Bosi as Goro and Enkelejda Shkosa as Suzuki.
April 6’s performance will also continue the Royal Opera House’s series of dedicated student ampitheatre performances. April 11’s sold-out performance will be the final showing of Madama Butterfly in the ROH’s 2015-16 season.
