Ana María Martínez begins the 2023/24 season starring as Amelia in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at Opera Philadelphia on September 22, 24, 29 & October 1. Ms. Martínez has been previously praised for her portrayal as Amelia at LA Opera – with the Los Angeles Daily News hailing, “Martinez has an ideal voice for Verdi, with fluidity throughout its range combined with excellent control that can float a pianissimo or rise to a dramatic crescendo.”

Featuring a new production by Laurence Dale, Corrado Rovaris conducts a star-studded cast, including Quinn Kelsey as the title role, Christian Van Horn as Jacopo, Richard Trey Smagur as Gabriele, Benjamin Taylor as Paolo, Cory McGee as Pietro, Robin Bier as Amelia’s maid, and Toffer Mihalka as a Captain.

Opera Philadelphia will host several events for the opening of Simon Boccangera, including a “Between the Notes” in-person lecture on September 14 and more. For more information, click here.
